The winters of the Great War were the worst in 60 years.  For the soldiers of the AIF to survive it would require Australian innovation, self sacrifice, determination and most of all love.  The solution was the design, manufacture and provision of a lifesaving sheepskin vest given to every Digger.

Men in Sheep's clothing: The History of the Sheepskin Digger's Vest captures the essence of what it was to be an Australian on the Homefront during World War One, seeking to do "your bit" for "The Boys".  The book commemorates the Centenary of ANZAC (the men who wore them), Celebrates the Centenary of the Red Cross (the ladies who made them), the Centenary of the Australian Sheepskin Clothing industry (as the first sheepskin produce made in Australia) and the fund raising efforts by the people of Australia to ensure that no Digger would ever pay for one.

This is their story and 100 years later we can only marvel at their achievement.
